This was my very first detector and it was an excellent introduction to the hobby. The discrimination on this unit is surprisingly accurate. The 6" depth of this machine is usually plenty to get the job done. If you're just starting out and don't want to shell out over $200 to get started, this is the detector you would want to start with.
